Ingredients

  • 1.5kg beef brisket, trimmed of excess fat
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp beef stock powder
  • 1 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce 
Spice Rub
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp packed brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder,
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper optional for more heat

Method

  1. Apply the spice rub to the meat on all sides, and optionally let sit for about an hour.
  2. Sear on all sides in a hot pat until well browned.
  3. Add all the rest of ingredients to a slow cooker, then add the meat and cook on low for 8-10 hours.
